Requirements the Chevening Scholarship
To be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship, applicants must fulfill the following requirements:
- The necessary language is English.
- Eligible countries: The scholarships are designed for citizens of countries that are eligible for Chevening support. The official website contains a detailed list of nations eligible for Chevening scholarships.
- After completing your scholarship, you must stay in your home country for at least two years.
- To be accepted into a postgraduate program at a UK institution, you must have completed all undergraduate degree requirements at the time of application. This is equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the United Kingdom, though it may differ depending on the field and university you choose.
- Have at least two years of work experience (2,800 hours).
- Make sure you have an unconditional offer from one of these possibilities by July. Apply to three different UK institutions that fulfill your prerequisites.
A scholarship from Chevening is not eligible to you if you:
- You must have dual or British citizenship, unless you are applying from Hong Kong and are a BN(O) holder or a citizen of a British Overseas Territory.
- Have worked for Her Majesty’s Government, are a former employee, are related* to an employee, or have worked for any of the following since Chevening applications became available in the last two years: British embassies or high commissions, the Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy, the Department for International Trade, the Ministry of Defence, or the Home Office.
- Have refugee status in a country that does not practise CHEVING. Scholarship recipients may apply if they are nationals or refugees of a Chevening-eligible country.
- Have money from a scholarship awarded by the UK government for international studies.
- You cannot receive a Chevening Partner Award from an organisation with which you currently work, have previously worked, or are related by blood. Candidates who currently work for Chevening Partner organisations, have previously worked there, or are related to someone who does are eligible to apply.
