The Nova Scotia Graduate Scholarship

The Master’s level prize is $10,000 per year for two years (annual renewal required).
Doctoral-level funding is $15,000 per year for four years (renewable annually).

Master’s (level 1): Up to $42,000 per year for up to two years, with an additional $2,500 for international tuition and a relocation stipend, as applicable.

Vitamin scholarship.

The award costs $19,000 (Masters) and $21,000 (Doctoral) for the 12-month academic year.

Abdul Majid Bader Graduate Scholarship
The $40,000 scholarship will cover one academic year of full-time study. The scholarship is renewable, with an annual progress evaluation.
The scholarship can be extended for up to 24 months of full-time studies.
Fees are not waived; they must be paid with the award.

How do I apply for Dalhousie University Scholarships?

To apply for Dalhousie University scholarships, please follow the steps outlined below.

1. Use the FGS Scholarship Management Platform. If you already have a Dalhousie NetID, please log in by selecting “Use Dalhousie NetID”. If not, please provide an email address and create a password. Even if you intend to apply for multiple positions, you only need to create one account.

2. From your home page, select “My applications” to create a new scholarship application or amend an existing one. Each applicant is only allowed to submit one application each competition; therefore, please do not submit multiple Harmonized Scholarship applications.

3. Master’s applicants who participate in the Tri-Agency CGS-M competition may use their CGS-M application for the Harmonized Scholarship Process. To do so, choose “Master’s Level – CGS-M Opt-In” as your submission category and complete the application. The Faculty of Graduate Studies will link your CGS-M application to your opt-in form, which will include the reference letters and transcripts you submitted for the Tri-Agency CGSM competition. The Opt-in date is December 1st, which coincides with the Tri-Agency CGS-M application deadline. If you do not opt-in with your CGS-M application, you must complete the Harmonized Scholarship Application to be eligible for additional incentives.

4. All applicants are highly invited to fill out the self-identification questionnaire provided on the Online Scholarship Platform. This enables administrators to verify that candidates are routed through the review process for award opportunities with precise eligibility criteria. The information in this questionnaire is not accessible to reviewers and will be kept strictly confidential.

5. To progress through the application, click the “Next” button at the bottom of each page. By clicking “Save”, the applicant can close the application and return to it later to make adjustments or additions.

6. The candidate must collect and upload official transcripts directly to the scholarship portal in compliance with the application’s specifications. FGS will not offer copies of transcripts from applications. Transcripts from various universities must be consolidated into a single PDF before submission. Unofficial grade data for current Dalhousie students can be used instead of official transcripts in the harmonized scholarship application.

7. Reference letters must be sent via the website by January 16, 2025 (or February 15 for non-thesis applicants). After this date, the application portal will be closed to all applicants and references, and incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Reference letters will not be accepted by email or written form. It is strongly advised that candidates notify their references of a deadline a few days to one week before January 14, in the event of unanticipated complications or technological issues. Applicants will receive an email notification from the site, and once their reference has been completed, a “received” indication will display in red next to each referee name. Please check the status of references on a regular basis leading up to the deadline.

8. Accept the terms and conditions before clicking “Save and Finalise” to finish and submit your application.

Note: You may withdraw your application until the January 15 deadline to make adjustments, such as updating your transcripts with autumn grades or making revisions based on department input. If you withdraw your application, please resubmit it by January 15th for consideration.
